Ilog Maria Honey Bee Farm in Silang, Cavite
Jun 23rd, 2012 by niceyfemme

Warning: Picture heavy post. 🙂

Months ago when I learned that I am finally pregnant I started to read about what I should do and what I should avoid. One of things I should do is stop my usual beauty and cleansing regimen as they may be harmful to the baby. So no more lotions, no more creams with vitamin A and I became careful even with the soaps that I was using. My skin became so dry it has never been that dry before. My husband Bee bought me an organic lotion but I didn’t like that. I was in Singapore during my first trimester and I saw a documentary about Palestinian soaps aka Nablus Soaps I think. It’s natural and no parabens but I felt it’s drying to my skin and it’s not cheap for something that small.

Good thing we passed by Ilog Maria Honey Bee Farm in Silang, Cavite last month when we went to Tagaytay but we didn’t have time to drop by. I finally get to drop by yesterday that’s after stalking their website for like a week.

Did I have a hard time finding the farm? Not really. I realized if you’re coming from Dasmariñas then it’s before the second Petron station from Robinson’s Dasmariñas and right after Monte Luce.

Then the narrow driveway started. Man was I glad I brought a car. I couldn’t imagine walking alone in that long and narrow ‘road’. If someone’s with me maybe I can. Read the rest of this entry »

Movement to Improve Philippine Airports

Please do show support for this group in Facebook by clicking the “LIKE” button. The Philippines truly need better airports with better facilities and better procedures. This country needs tourists for a better sustainable economy.

The Philippines is blessed with gorgeous natural wonders and we should make these gorgeous beaches and it’s great people more accessible to tourist  by improving our crappy airports.

Hotel Pier Cuatro
Jan 30th, 2011 by niceyfemme

Last week we went to Cebu and was searching for a place to stay at. We only have a fairly minimum requirement, that the place be clean, have the basic amenities and a reasonable cost. Just a clean room with clean bathroom. Even TV we can negotiate if the place doesn’t have it. We don’t need extravagant furnitures as we were only going to sleep there. Just a simple place that’s reasonably priced.

I had no idea where we should stay so I searched and searched for nice reviews of budget hotels in the area. Hotel Pier Cuatro was mentioned by an agency, of course they didn’t tell me that the hotel has it’s own website (they gave me their agency’s link) when I asked them for photos as they wouldn’t be able to get commissions if I book there directly. I checked it myself. I didn’t even know they have their own simple website.

Photo: from their website

I tried to do some research online and you know how unreliable those photo galleries are in their website and about how they look so far from reality? Well, I knew it would be a risk we had to take as I didn’t even find a reliable review about this hotel. I only know that it’s close to the ports/piers and to SM as I viewed it on google maps.

So we were pleasantly surprised  that the place is a little bit more than we hoped for. (Well, we, specially I have a very very low expectation based on the price they quoted us per room and per night.) First, they have a decent reception, bigger than I’m expecting to see. Fairly relaxed and simple lobby. They don’t have a software like Hotel Information System or Fidelio but it’s fine as they only have a few rooms.

When we saw the room I can say that we were pleased. We stayed at their Standard Room with twin beds Php 1180/night for 2 pax with one pillow in each bed, with breakfast for 2 pax.

We asked for two more pillows and was charged Php50 for each pillow. Hmmmn…. Smaller room than usual, just the space you need to move around freely. Has two clean single beds with clean white sheets.

Strained our eyes with this small tv haha.

There’s a small television with Sky Cable which is nice (didn’t expect they have based on my low expectations). Aircon works well too.

The bathroom is clean and spacious  enough. And there’s hot and cold shower (that works!) which is a nice plus. There’s two pairs of rubber slippers too.

Since we were hungry from the flight, we decided to eat in SM.  But Mommy wanted to try their Cafe Quattro which is situated just beside the reception.

“Cutie Chandelier”.

I like the hotel’s lighting.

So we took a look at their menu.

Lots of choices.

Mommy and I were so hungry.

Only a Korean family and us were there.

Their silog meals are good, the serving size is enough for one to feel full and it comes with lots of atchara too.  At Php 78 it’s reasonable cheap!

I ordered bangus silog and Mommy had tocilog,

which should be called tokalog as it’s tocino (cured pork), kanin (rice) and itlog (egg). I love the atchara.

We also ordered chopsuey Php120 and coffee. The chopsuey sauce was a little bit too sweet for our taste.

The silog meals are the biggest hit to us. Cheap and good. It comes with either coffee or milo.

After dinner we just stayed in. But by around 10 p.m. (or was it 11p.m.?) I was already hungry. So I called for room service which is the same cafe.

We liked the tokalog so we ordered that again.

Plus some toast with butter and pineapple jam. Hmmmn it took them around 30 minutes to deliver the food but the wait is so worth it, specially since we only paid Php 106 for those nice midnight snack.

Oh did I mention that buffet breakfast is included in the room rate? They served a simple breakfast of scrambled egg, fried danggit, corned beef (which is a little salty hehe) sausages which already ran out by the time we ate, toast and some butter and jam.

This was on the first day. The second day, they served hard boiled eggs, ham and fried danggit again with rice, and the toasts are there again too. There’s coffee and orange juice as well.

If there’s one thing I could complain about is the room’s very thin walls. If one guest turns on their tv loudly at night, you will hear it. We were awaken by loud tv’s twice or thrice but other than that everything’s fine. The room attendants are all nice and helpful. They have WiFi, laundry service and a few CCTV cameras. The other staff in reception and in the cafe are ok. Of course it can’t be compared to 5 star hotel service with a horse carriage complete with horse tack to welcome you but at that price, I’m so, so happy with this hotel. Reasonably priced and clean, plus nice affordable food. So if you’re going to Cebu and looking for affordable and reasonable clean place to stay at, Hotel Pier Cuatro is a good choice.

Strawberry Picking
Jul 15th, 2010 by niceyfemme

I want to go back to Baguio. I’ve been there a couple of times but because I was with bad company, I didn’t really enjoy the place much. So I really want to go back with Mommy, Bee and Daddy.

But then come to think of it, the place I really want to go to is in La Trinidad Benguet. I want to experience strawberry picking!

This are the type of things I want to experience. I want a date there than in malls. Malls are so boring already haha.

Arggghhhhh!
Jun 25th, 2010 by niceyfemme

I totally need a vacation! I need to escape from all the thinking. I need to escape from myself. I’m tired and exhausted. What to do what to do? I hope there’s  a legal drug to cure specific problems. 🙁

Photo: Dgrin.com

I can go somewhere to unwind but I know better. I know this is not the time to spend on vacations no matter how well deserved they may be. If I can splurge I want to Palawan– in Coron. I’ve been to Boracay many times already and even though it’s paradise I want to see another paradise in the Philippines. We are soooo lucky to have been blessed with natural wonders and it’s a pity the world is not aware of this thanks to our reputation. Noynoy Aquino hopefully can do better than the last presidents before him. Or poor Kris.

If I hit the jackpot I’d go to the Caribbean. Just to see how it fares to ours hehehe…

Also, I am the type to go to provinces. I like having a feel of the rural areas. So this Branson vacation packages would be ideal for me to try. We always hear things about LA and New York– of course I want to see them too but I like suburban areas better. Wisteria lane? Yup. Life is going to be fun if you have neighbors like them.

Boracay
Mar 15th, 2010 by niceyfemme

Little piece of heaven on Earth; that’s how I would describe this gorgeous beach. As a matter of fact I’m confident to call it one of the best in the world.  I am hearing from people back home that it is very hot right now. Well mention hot weather and you will think of BEACH! I thought of the best one I’ve been to then all my memories in Boracay came rushing back to me. My Mom, myself and a friend who wanted to see for himself just how magnificent Boracay is went a gazillion years ago, that’s why I want to go back soon!

Best Part of Air TraveL
Oct 21st, 2009 by niceyfemme

Every time I have to leave the country, I always kind of hate the idea of packing, checking in and being on queue, waiting for boarding time, not to mention my butt always ending up in pain for sitting  for hours in the plane, basically everything that has to do with air travel.

Photobucket

Not to mention the “I’m-happy-to-go-but-I’m-leaving-someone-behind” part. You know how heavy your heart is? Even though I’m always back in just weeks I still feel that, EVERYTIME.

The only nice part I look forward to? The plane’s taking off and landing parts…..

So exciting!

There’s just something about it. It has always intrigued me. How the plane defies gravity. I know it can be explained by science but for someone who doesn’t get science that well (hehehe) that’s still fascinating….

I hope someone could explain to me how planes do that, in layman’s term.

I have an idea from what I read and what I was able to “get”.

My theory about how a plane flies

The plane’s engine “supplies” hot air beneath it’s wings. Hot air naturally has to go up. So when the plane blows hot air in it’s wings, plus buwelo (enough flight?) then the plane will fly. Yeah, this is my theory.

See I’ve always been wanting to take a video of the plane’s landing and take off. Was only able to do so the last time I left. I have to say, it was pretty nice. I like how it excites me. I have to admit, there’s a tiny tiny bit of nervousness in the deepest part of me heehehe…. And once I get seated, a lot of emotions overpower me.

Oh and you can see our house from this video hehehe…. You can see SM Bacoor and we are very close from SM. *wink!*

Take off!

Exciting right? I didn’t expect the sight I saw. Very beautiful! Every time I watch these videos, I feel like I’m there.

Then after this take off, its hours or seating and waiting for hours to pass me by. I ate a whole lot of food, mind you. As
in I finished two bags of chips, one small bottle of water, one bottle of orange juice and some nuts. When I’m bored, I eat. When I’m bored I gain weight. 🙁

I really can’t stand sitting for hours. Understandable because i’m someone who always multitask even if I dont have to.

Landing! Finally!

There’s always some kind of relief I’m feeling every time it’s landing time, well aside from the excitement. I’m not scared of landing. I just have some kind of doubts? Well, planes still crash, you know. Even in large planes. Remember Air France?

Never mind, I love travelling and I will continue doing this as long as possible. I hope I could explore other countries as well, most especially in Europe. Oh wow!

I just wish I have a job that will pay me to travel. Oh wow!
