I love kamote or sweet potato, actually any starchy food is a favorite. Bad for the figure I know hehehhe…. So I love gabi or taro root in sinigang, potatoes in all forms, squash is a favorite too since I was a baby I think and this is one of those foods I wish isn’t too fattening because I could just eat them non stop.
I have bad self control when it comes to food and I realized that street foods are the most tempting to try! Ooh kwek kwek and isaw (grilled chicken intestines) and dugo (grilled blocks of solidified blood) I miss you. I don’t know maybe it’s because of the whole ambiance haha. I got real sick a few years ago because of this bad habit.
Fortunately, I had been given typhoid shot. Does this mean I can eat street foods and need not worry? Well that certainly is what I’ve been telling myself!

Roti Prata. After all the suspense in waiting to have you, you’re not as good as I thought you would be. Blame it on this curry sauce, bland and watery, not good.
I’ve been getting tired of Chinese food because aside from the occasional Beef Rendang (Malay food) that I’m eating, it’s mostly Char Kway Teow that I’m having when I don’t know what to have as it is my dependable yummy dish. So after countless whining to Bee about not knowing what to eat, he said he’ll bring me some place with nice Indian food he tried before with some other friends. He brought me to Mustafa, the Indian area in Singapore.
It was Bee and I’s nth monthsary and this time we decided to celebrate in Seoul Garden. I wanted to try this restaurant since last year and we’re only able to do it now. Eat as much as you can and you cook it yourself seemed kind of fun. So I picked up Bee from work and we headed to Bugis to pig out.
The restaurant was almost full house when we got there and lots of marinated meats greeted us at the entrance. There was enough choices but I have this thing where when I know I can eat as much as I can I get overwhelmed that I feel full instantly. That’s why I try to limit visits in buffet restaurants, it’s not worth it in my case.
Bee and I chose some meats and seafood we wanted to try first and some veggies for the soup.
Despite my recent weight gain and my desire to cut down on food intake, a real bad case of serious craving hit me last night. I wanted pineapple fried rice and chicken satay in Chinatown. Exactly the food I used to eat often two years ago with a close friend.
So instead of heading home after some shopping (which is really tiring), I dragged Bee to go to Chinatown instead.
Then these pretty lanterns greeted us outside the MRT station.
I have always had a quest to try and taste the best. Hainanese Chicken Rice (HCR) edition this time. I have read about one particular stall that most food bloggers and even a chef cum Tv Host have agreed to this. So we headed to a particular hawker center but too bad, we came in too late. They ran out of chickens. So I will save about that for later. Bee and I just had to settle to another chicken rice stall very close to the one I am referring to. Normally I wouldn’t try a stall just because of it’s proximity but this one has a long queue too. I don’t know if that’s because people find their chicken rice as good too, or they just settle to this one because the best one is closed already.
Maxwell Hainanese Chicken Rice stall has a pretty exterior and long queues of people that’s why we got curious and decided to try it as well. They are the only stall with long queue that night.
The photos in their stall sure look appetizing.
I am a roasted HCR girl. One of the criteria for good HCR for locals is tender meat/flesh, like smooth and silky. And you can see in these photo that the meat is silky soft.
Just a Sunday night when we decided to go do some grocery shopping. I love how my trolley helps make carrying heavy stuff easier. It made my flights easier when I use it to carry my 20+ kg check in baggage and my hand carry which is around 10 kg. The max it can carry is 60 kg. I love it. Because of it we can buy boxes of my water at once and other heavy stuff like kilos of rice.
After we waited for like 10-15 minutes, the bus came. Then Bee realized he didn’t have his EZ Link with him. Hate it when this happens. Have to wait again!
Woke up with no electricity yesterday morning. I’m ok with no water supply, but not black outs. It makes me go nuts! I really need power.
So even though I didn’t have plans to go out of the house, I decided to do the shopping I needed (which I originally planned to do next week when my flight is nearer) right then and there. I just have to leave the house. So I went to SM Mall of Asia (MOA).
Driving to SM MOA was a breeze. No traffic at that time. Hmmmn around 11:45 am? And no matter how much I hate the spiral drive way going up to the parking floors, no choice but to pass there as THAT is the only way up. I feel like it’s not safe. So steep. And so dark.
Then once I hit the mall I was surprised as it was so dark. NO ELECTRICITY. I really wasn’t able to escape it. It’s haunting me. Some stores are closed because of that power interruption. BDO atm machines are all offline. So I wasn’t able to withdraw some money and I only had less than a thousand cash on hand. I still decided to check how things are there. Sayang ang parking fee at gas sa pagpunta ko dun heheheh….
Since I was there already, I headed to CD-R King as we need those laptop fans, which turned out to be at the other side of the vast mall. I ordered the laptop fan.
Because of lack of POS systems of any kind in CD-R King, it took them close to what 20 minutes just to write down that receipt and give me my change. And they do not accept cards, only cash. I don’t know if that’s because of power failure or what.
Last week I went to Mommy’s office to pay a visit and also to drive her around. It’s nice seeing Ate Janet again, Sir Neal, Kuya Jeg, Geraldyn, Kuya Boy and everyone. This visit reminded me once again that I cannot work in an office environment. Fluorescent lights make me sleepy like crazy.
We had our breakfast there as we were in a rush to reach office before we get stuck in traffic. So I had tortang talong and rice fish and garlic fried rice. With coffee. I also ordered suman. That’s for later heheh…
Then come lunch time Mommy asked me what I wanted for lunch. I didn’t know what I want, we looked around what’s available but I just can’t choose so I decided not to eat. I’ve been craving for Amber’s Pancit Malabon. They have a branch in Makati but it’s a short drive from where the office is. I can’t leave because I don’t want to lose my parking space. Haha it’s so hard to have one there so I’d rather not go. Delivery has minimum purchase required and I only want a single order of Pancit Malabon so….
For days I’ve been craving for Pancit Malabon. There’s a branch of Pancit Malabon Express in Bacoor, in Niog across Jollibee but I’m too lazy to go there. I have tried it there and they’re good. So I decided to just cook it myself. I have cooked this a decade ago. One of those experiments I had in my cooking-crazy phase. We even had it for Media Noche haha.
For our taste that is.
When we tried a popular stall of Kway Teow, the one with the long queue, we didn’t really like it. But the locals love it. So this is more suitable for our Filipino taste buds.
Bee is the one who first discovered this. When most stalls were closed already, this one is still open and we’re glad he tried buying from there. We love it so much that we have this very often. Like here.
This was when Bee and I wanted not to think about anything, forget about life’s worries and just relax…. So we didn’t even think to cook, just eat out. Maybe watch a movie or something. No plans/ itinerary either– just go wherever our feet will take us.
Because it’s me, food is the one thing that’s always in my mind. When I’m stressed — I eat. When I’m bored– I eat. When I’m sad— I eat. Food is in my mind every 5 seconds. A friend told me that he’s actually surprised that I’m not as big as I should be, based on how much and how often I eat. Hmmmnn… I eat healthy most of the time that’s why I don’t gain as much hehe…. And Bee always tell me that whenever we’re out to eat, I’ll point and want to buy a lot of food like I want everything. Haha. Can’t blame me, food makes me happy.
Yup so no plans. Just go. We didn’t want to walk to the MRT since it’s far so we chose to use the bus since the stop is just across the street.
This is what I do when I’m bored from waiting for the freaking bus. 30 freaking minutes. Good thing there’s no food at hand or I could have eaten a lot by the time it arrived.
