French Baguette Recipe plus Baked Macaroni
Apr 10th, 2015 by niceyfemme

This is the better recipe I tested. Been wanting to use my Kitchenaid mixer and baguette is what I’ve been craving to eat recently. This recipe produces a baguette that has a chewy inside and a crunchy crust.

My bad that I forgot to take pictures after it was baked.

I thought this will go well with Baked Macaroni.

Found this recipe on Allrecipes.com but forgot which one. And I adjusted the recipe a bit, like added more flour, added some dried herbs for flavors I prefer. If you prefer a more plain taste then don’t add the herbs.

French Baguette

1 cup lukewarm water (110F)

3 cups bread flour

4 T sugar (I added more as prefer a bit of sweetness)

1 t. salt

1 1/2 t. instant yeast

1 egg white

1. Add the water in the mixer bowl and add half of the sugar mix then add the yeast to activate. Wait for 10 minutes until the mixture becomes bubbly.

2. In speed 2, add the flour to the bowl. Once it turns into a ball of dough sprinkle the salt and keep on kneading until the dough is smooth.

3. Oil the bowl and roll your dough on it to coat with oil. Cover and let rise until doubled in size, about an hour.

4. Roll the dough into a rectangle until the dough is very thin. Cut in half then jelly roll it and seal the seams. Do the same with the other half of the dough. Brush with beaten egg whites.

5. Cut at an angle, not too deep. Cover. Let rise until doubled about 40 minutes.

6. Bake in 390F for 20 minutes. You can spray some water while baking for crunchier crusts.

Done!

Tune Hotel Quezon City
Apr 9th, 2015 by niceyfemme

Just a short review.

Double room at Tune Hotel Quezon City

Well can I Just start by saying I got a cheaper rate by booking online.

Booked the same day and called them on the phone regarding parking, said they have a few. What they didn’t mention was that the signage/name of their hotel was missing (learned later on theyre trying to fix it) so it took us a few going back and forth in the area to find it. Ooops I just realized I forgot to take a picture and it’s such a hassle to take one in front of the hotel with a toddler who’s very active.

tv

Parking was ok since it wasn’t a busy day so many slots are vacant.

The room was small but for the price it’s ok. This is the kind of hotel Im looking for, not too expensive but comfortable with the basics. If you want all the extras the book in a 5 star hotel.

tune

The hot water and shower works well. TV with cable is fine. Wifi is good but not fast. Aircon is fine at first but around 12 midnight I noticed the aircon got loud, it was the blower. So loud that it was a hassle to get to sleep. Then around 6am I thought storm Chedeng was finally in Manila when I checked outside the window the sun was bright, the blower was that loud and crazy.

toilet

No slippers, you have to bring your own.there were two towels and a small one. 1 bottle of shampoo, 2 small thin round soap. I was looking for a door mat found none.

shower

Courteous housekeeping staff, always greeting you. Front desk staff are all cold. Not even a smile. Took at least 30 minutes to check out, took that long for them to check the room.

hallway

and their site said minimum age of guests is 5 years old and below that is not allowed. I brought my daughter with me and it was not a problem.

Still will go back. I don’t think there’s a better hotel at this price. Is it too much to ask for breakfast? Just some wishful thinking… 🙂 It’s just nice to know that if we really need to stay overnight that there’s an affordable hotel we can stay at that won’t break the bank and will leave me feeling guilty.

Active Fun in Bonifacio High Street, Taguig
Apr 1st, 2015 by niceyfemme

Brought Joleigh to Active Fun so she can channel her endless energy in play with other kids. For someone who doesn’t live close to the area, I found it quite a challenge to find the place. It did help that I used google maps for me to have an idea where it is with St. Luke’s Global as my base point.

After going around a few times on the building I still couldn’t find the parking area. Turned out they don’t have their own parking space I was told. We parked in the building where Dimensione is located and we had to walk to get to Active Fun. So we registered and off she went! Oh you have to bring socks don’t forget.
