Is a noun; referring to someone who is afraid of using technological devices, such as computers.
Ok, I’m not really scared of computers and technology or anything hi-tech but it’s not my best friend either. It never came naturally for me.
Year 1998. Back then I was a freshman in high school and the internet was just starting to blossom. There were a few internet shops already but the operating systems were from the stone age. I didn’t even know what operating system was popular back then; actually I clearly knew what an operating system means and other computer and internet stuff just last year.
So going back in 1998, I wanted to “surf” the internet to go to Hanson‘s official website. So I rented a computer but I didn’t know what to do. I remember just staring at the monitor, basically have no idea what to do, looking at other computers and figuring out how to get there. I gave up and just ask someone to help me and I was embarrassed. So that day, I knew how to click the Internet Explorer icon.
You’d think that after that I’ll be better at it but no. When my classmates were all copying reports or doing their research from the internet I was still doing mine the old fashioned way which was going to the library. I just didn’t know how. Our Computer Technology class didn’t help at all. What with the MS DOS thingy? It didn’t help that he’s not a good teacher. He’s just nice and funny.
Then in college, our school had a free internet service for students in our library; that’s the time J and I just practiced to click and click and click. That was the time I knew how to set up an email account, how to browse the net and all the basic stuff. I knew how to research in Yahoo and only in Yahoo. (I wasn’t aware of other browsers then)
